Nyfjäll , 'Cats Rally for Impressive Top-10 Finish at The Prestige

LA QUINTA, Calif. —

After finishing the opening round of The Prestige in a tie for 19th place out of 24 teams, Northwestern men’s golf rallied over the final two rounds of action to turn in a Top-10 finish in eighth place with a 54-hole score of 304 (+41). The loaded field featured 11 teams ranked in the Top-50 and Northwestern’s eighth-place finish was its best at the event since 2018.
 
The Wildcats opened the final round of play in 14th, but as a team finished +3 on Wednesday to move up to eighth place. Only two teams posted a better final-round score than the Wildcats.
 

David Nyfjäll led the Wildcats in the event, finishing tied for seventh overall at +5 (218). The ‘Cats top player turned in an impressive final round, going four shots under par at 67 strokes for the day, which was the second-best score by any player for the entire event.

 
Northwestern had a pair of players turn in Top-20 finishes among the field playing in The Prestige Individual Invitational with James Imai finishing tied for 13th (219) and Christopher Zhang placing in tie for 20th (223)
 
The Wildcats will return to action at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas from Feb. 27 through March 1.
