Nyfjäll , ‘Cats Rally for Impressive Top-10 Finish at The Prestige

After finishing the opening round of The Prestige in a tie for 19^th place out of 24 teams, Northwestern men’s golf rallied over the final two rounds of action to turn in a Top-10 finish in eighth place with a 54-hole score of 304 (+41). The loaded field featured 11 teams ranked in the Top-50 and Northwestern’s eighth-place finish was its best at the event since 2018.
 
The Wildcats opened the final round of play in 14^th, but as a team finished +3 on Wednesday to move up to eighth place. Only two teams posted a better final-round score than the Wildcats.
 

David Nyfjäll led the Wildcats in the event, finishing tied for seventh overall at +5 (218). The ‘Cats top player turned in an impressive final round, going four shots under par at 67 strokes for the day, which was the second-best score by any player for the entire event.

 
Northwestern had a pair of players turn in Top-20 finishes among the field playing in The Prestige Individual Invitational with James Imai finishing tied for 13^th (219) and Christopher Zhang placing in tie for 20^th (223)
 
The Wildcats will return to action at the Southern Highlands Collegiate in Las Vegas from Feb. 27 through March 1.
