Dhruva Finishes Fourth, Women's Golf T6th at UNF Collegiate

JACKSONVILLE, Fla.  – Junior Isha Dhruva (Katy, Texas) earned her first collegiate top-5 this week at the North Florida Collegiate finishing fourth at 4-under, 212, after carding a 1-under, 71, in the final round on Tuesday afternoon. Penn State concluded the week tied for sixth in the 17-team field.

Dhruva was one of just eight players in the 90-player field to finish the week in red figures after rounds of 72-69-71 at the 5,926-yard, par-72, Jacksonville Golf and Country Club. The junior’s 4-under, 212, total is tied for the sixth-lowest 54-hole score in program history.

A master of the front-nine this week, Dhurva once again went bogey-free over the opening nine holes on Tuesday with one birdie to finish the tournament a combined 3-under on the front side.

“I’m very proud of Isha, she held it together and finished the tournament under par and that’s not always easy to do especially going into the final round with the lead,” mentioned head coach Denise St. Pierre. “She is so good at being consistent with her preparation and practice day in and day out, so it makes me happy for her to see that paying off on the course.”

As a team, Penn State registered its lowest round of the week with a 4-over, 292, finishing the tournament tied with Jacksonville State at 22-over, 886.

North Florida captured its fourth-straight championship at its home course with a 1-over, 865, six shots clear of second-place Furman (7-over) while North Texas (10-over), Sam Houston (18-over) and Georgia Southern (19-over) round out the top-5.

Junior Mathilde Delavallade (Royan, France) slipped a bit coming in during her final round finishing the day 2-over, 74, after bogeys on four of her final six holes, but still finished the week tied for 11th at 2-over, 218.

Senior Sarah Willis (Eaton, Ohio) birdied three of her final 10 holes of the day to climb 17 spots on the leaderboard after carding an even-par, 72, in the third round while freshmen classmates Drew Nienhaus (St. Louis, Mo.) and Katie Scheck (Greensboro, Ga.) registered identical 3-over scores on Tuesday afternoon.

Playing as an individual, senior Taylor Waller (Canonsburg, Pa.) finished the week tied for 33rd following a 5-over, 77, in the final round.

“I was pleased with how we handled the course today. We gained some wisdom and were able to make a few things happen,” concluded St. Pierre.
