Five Things to Know: Big Ten Championship


MADISON, Wis.— Wisconsin is headed to Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to compete in the Big Ten Championship this Friday through Sunday. 

Here are five things to know before the team takes the course on Friday.

1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin finished in second place at the Indiana Invitational earlier this month. The team shot an 889 to record it’s best finish of the season. Freshman Vanessa Ho finished runner-up to lead the Badgers, shooting a three-over-par 219. This marked her best career finish and her first top-five finish.

2. The Course: Fox Chapel Golf Club was designed by Charles Banks and Seth Raynor in 1923, replicating some of the best golf in Europe right in Pittsburgh. Raynor started the design and it was finished by Banks. The course was fully restored in 2001 and since has hosted numerous events, including the Curtis Cup and three Constellation SENIOR PLAYERS Championships. For the tournament, the course will be playing as a 6,045-yard par 71.

3. The Tournament: The Big Ten Championship is hosted each year for all of the Big Ten Conference schools. Last season, the Badgers finished eighth our of 13 teams after shooting an 891 (+27). Mackenzie Hahn was the team’s top-finisher, coming in T18 with a three-over-par 219. Friday and Saturday tee times will begin at 7:30 a.m CT, while Sunday tee times will begin at 7 a.m.

4. The Field: Competing in the tournament will be Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Nebraska, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers and Wisconsin. Traveling with Wisconsin is Chloe Chan, Nicole Ciskowski, Gia Feliciano, Mackenzie Hahn, Vanessa Ho and Emily Lauterbach.
