COLUMBUS, Ohio — With the freshmen duo of Hunter Thomson and Bavake Sihota leading the Wolverines, the University of Michigan men’s golf team wrapped its regular season with an 878 total, finishing ninth today (Sunday, April 23) at Ohio State’s Robert Kepler Intercollegiate played at the Columbus Country Club.

In his team-best 10th start of the season, Thomson paced the Maize and Blue for the fourth straight spring event and fifth time this season. Tying for 34th with a 219 (+3) total, he opened with a 76 in his first round before using five birdies in the second round to card a 69 (-3) and post his team-best 11th sub-par team total. He closed with a final round 74.

Opening his weekend shooting a career-low 68 (-4) in the first round, Sihota set his pace early as his six birdies, including five in the first nine holes, helped him record his first career sub-70 tally. After a 78 in the second, he guided U-M in the final round with a 73 (+1) to tie with Thomson in the 34th position at a new career-best 54-hole total of 219.

Returning to the lineup, sophomore Will Anderson‘s 220 (70-76-74) tied him for 34th, while graduate student Brendan O’Reilly (74-76-74) and freshman Yuqi Liu (75-76-73) each tied for 55th with 224 totals. Sophomore Jude Kim competed as an individual and was 73rd at 229 (71-78-80).
