Lai Finishes T-29th at NCAA New Haven Regionals


NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Graduate Eddy Lai finished tied for 29th at 1-over to par at the NCAA New Haven Regional Championships following a 2-under 68 on day three. Lai placed third in his individual group of competitors as his season came to an end at the Yale Golf Course on Wednesday.
 
Finishing first in the individual group was VCU’s Adrian Vagberg at 5-under to par and tied for sixth in the overall field. Vagberg will advance to the NCAA Championships at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Ariz.
 
Lai finished his career tied for second in UCLA history with 158 rounds played.
 
Lai sunk three birdies and had just one bogey in the final round of his collegiate career. His birdies came on the par-4 seventh, par-4 11th and par-5 16th. Lai’s performance marked his fourth sub-70 score of the year.
 
Lai had one top-10 and three top-20 finishes in his final season in Westwood. He was the only Bruin to compete in all 12 tournaments.
