TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Just three days after concluding her collegiate career at the 2022 NCAA Championships, University of Alabama women’s golf alumna Polly Mack has been named an All-America First Team selection by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association, it was announced by the organization on the Golf Channel Wednesday.
Crimson Tide head coach Mic Potter has produced 15 WGCA All-America First Team honors, and by nine different players, since 2006. Mack is Alabama’s first women’s golfer to receive the high honor since three members of the program earned the designation in 2018.
- 2021-22 WGCA Player of the Year Watch List
- 2021-22 ANNIKA Award Watch List / Top 10 Finalist
- 2021-22 All-SEC First Team
- Prior to NCAA Championships, led Alabama with a 71.1 scoring average through 10 tournaments and 29 rounds
- Recorded 20 rounds of par-or-better, including nine rounds in the 60s
- Recorded a career-best 65 and tied her next-best career low of 66 at the NCAA Franklin Regional
- Prior to NCAA Championships, led team in contributed rounds with 28 or her 29 rounds going to the team score on the season
- Through 11 total tournaments, had seven finishes inside the top 10, including three finishes inside the top five and a pair of tournament titles at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic and the NCAA Franklin Regional
- Came back from a T58 placement after the first round at the SEC Championship to a T12 finish, reporting scores of 79-70-69 to climb 46 spots up the leaderboard and lead the Alabama lineup to match play
Mack is one of 12 golfers to be tabbed to the WGCA All-America First Team and one of four from the Southeastern Conference.
The criteria used to determine the WGCA All-American Teams include:
- Head-to-head competition
- Comparison with common opponents
- Scoring average
- Place finishes in regular season events and tournament wins
- Strength of schedule
The WGCA Second Team and Honorable Mention Team will be announced after the conclusion of the tournament.
