SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The 2021-22 season came to an official close for Arizona Men’s Golf after it failed to make the cut at the NCAA Championships. The Wildcats were 11-over in the third round of stroke place to finish their run in Scottsdale at 43-over par, missing the cut to the fourth and final day of stroke play by six strokes.
“While the season ended before we wanted to, I was proud to see us end it in Scottsdale,” said head coach Jim Anderson. “We achieved many of our goals this season, including winning NCAA Regionals and advancing to NCAA Championships. We accomplished some milestones this season that hadn’t been done in over a decade, and this season gave our program a tremendous foundation to build on and continue to develop next season.”
Junior Chase Sienkiewicz one-upped his opening round of 69 by carding a 2-under round of 68 on Sunday, which tied for the sixth lowest round in the field for the third round.
Arizona advanced to NCAA Championships for the first time since 2011 after winning the NCAA Bryan Regional, which marked the program’s first NCAA Regional championship since 2006.
The win in Texas last week gave the Cats their second team win of the season following its defense of its title at the Arizona Intercollegiate at Tucson Country Club in January, giving Arizona its fifth consecutive win at its home tournament.
