SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. – Lady Vol golfer Bailey Davis is set to compete at the 77th U.S. Women’s Open in Southern Pines, North Carolina, at Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club, running June 2-5.
THE FIELD
The field consists of 156 golfers, 12 of which are previous U.S. Women’s Open champions. Davis is one of 30 amateur players and one of 50 first-time U.S. Women’s Open competitors in the field. She is also one of 14 LPGA-USGA Girls Golf alums to compete at Pine Needles this year.
DAVIS ON THE YEAR
The White Plains, Maryland, native is coming off an impressive inaugural year at Tennessee. She was tied for the team-high in most rounds of par or better (7) and notched two top-20 finishes. Her best performance was at The Ally in the fall, where she shot -7 and tied for sixth place. Davis wrapped up her stellar freshman year by earning a spot on the SEC All-Freshman Team.
The rising sophomore qualified for the U.S. Women’s Open after she shot -3 (141) over 36 holes at the U.S. Women’s Open at Belle Haven Country Club, one of the 26 qualifying sites for the championship event.
