TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama junior Canon Claycomb was one of 25 golfers named to the 2022 PING Southeast All-Region Team, announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA).
It marks the first time Claycomb has earned the accolade in his career and the fifth straight season that a Crimson Tide golfer has been honored. There were no all-district teams announced in 2020 due to the global pandemic.
- Finished the season ranked No. 59 in the nation, according to the final Golfweek/Sagarin individual collegiate rankings
- Led the team throughout the year, including stroke average (70.92), average vs. par (-0.29), rounds of par or lower (18) and rounds in the 60s (9)
- His 70.92 per round average on the season ranked seventh-best in program history while his average vs. par of -0.29 was sixth-best in the school annals
- Also led the Tide with 18 rounds of par or lower, nine rounds in the 60s, two top-five results and five finishes in the top 20
- Recorded six consecutive rounds in the 60s to open the spring season, the longest stretch of his career and most since Justin Thomas had five straight in the spring of 2012
- Finished the spring campaign at 18-under par, including shooting below par in four of his six tournaments in which he competed, and combined to finish 8-under for the entire season
- Invited as an individual to participate in the 2022 NCAA Bryan Regional where he tied for fifth overall after shooting a 3-under 213 (72-70-71)
- Lost a chance to advance to the NCAA National Championships after dropping the first playoff hole at the NCAA Regional
- Captured his first collegiate medalist honors at the spring season-opening Watersound Invitational with a 54-hole career-best total of 14-under par 202 (67-66-69)
