Steph Curry will try to replicate his fourth NBA championship run when he returns to South Lake Tahoe for the celebrity golf tournament in July.
Curry announced Wednesday he will return to Lake Tahoe for the 33rd American Century Championship, which will be July 8-10 at Edgewood Tahoe.
Curry was named the NBA Finals MVP after the Golden State Warriors won their fourth title in the past eight seasons.
Curry, who was a unanimous selection as Finals MVP, will be joined at Edgewood by his father Dell Curry and brother Seth Curry.
The three Currys will join a field with Justin Timberlake, Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Tony Romo, Aaron Rodgers, Annika Sorenstam, Charles Barkley and first-time participants Colin Jost of Saturday Night Live, WWE superstar The Miz and country music singer/songwriter Jake Owen.
The lineup includes 13 Hall of Famers, 17 MVP award-winners and multiple Cy Young Award winners. With Timberlake, Ray Romano, Anthony Anderson and other entertainment celebrities, the field also includes winners of multiple Emmy, Grammy and other awards.
For Steph Curry, this will be his 10th appearance at the ACC. His best finishes were fourth-place ties on three occasions, in 2013, 2017 and 2020. He finished ninth last year. Caesars Sportsbook has him listed as one of the top eight favorites at 12/1 odds.
The ACC purse is $600,000, with $125,000 going to the winner. Charity fundraising has produced over $6 million for nonprofits over the years.
Former NBA player and coach Vinny Del Negro is the defending champion.
The field includes of 30 current or former NFL players, including current quarterbacks Aaron Rodgers, the 2021 NFL MVP for the Green Bay Packers, and Derek Carr of the Las Vegas Raiders. Active players also include 49ers placekicker Robbie Gould and Vikings teammates Adam Thielen, Harrison Smith and Patrick Peterson.
The lineup of NFL Hall of Famers features Michael Strahan, Steve Young, Jerry Rice, Emmitt Smith, Tim Brown, Jerome Bettis, Terrell Davis, Brian Urlacher, Charles Woodson, Larry Fitzgerald, DeMarcus Ware, Kyle Williams and Jim McMahon. Also in the field is head coach Mike Vrabel of the Tennessee Titans.
NBA representation includes Miami Heat star Kyle Lowry, Chicago Bulls guard Alex Caruso, making his tournament debut, and Vince Carter, eight-time All-Star and current ESPN analyst — as well as ACC mainstay and local favorite Charles Barkley.
