Cross, Wolcott, Named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars

Tennessee men’s golfers Spencer Cross and Hunter Wolcott were honored as Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Thursday.

To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar nomination must participate in 50 percent of their team’s competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in NCAA Division I, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.

It marks the third such of honor of both Cross and Wolcott’s Tennessee careers, as they were both named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars in 2020 and 2021. The duo were also both named to the 2022 SEC Spring Academic Honor Roll.

Cross, an All-America Honorable Mention and First Team All-SEC selection, was the most consistent force in Tennessee’s lineup in his final season as a Vol. Cross concluded the 2021-22 season with a 69.33 stroke average—the best single-season stroke average in program history.

Additionally, Cross’ 22 rounds of par or better this season were the second-most in program history.

Cross concluded the regular season with his first career collegiate individual title at the Lewis Chitengwa Memorial in Charlottesville, Virginia, and followed it up with a tied-for-fifth-place finish in the stroke play portion of the SEC Championships. He was Tennessee’s highest finisher in its final six tournaments. Overall on the season, Cross recorded eight top-20 finishes—including five top-10 finishes.

Off the course, Cross was named to the SEC Community Service Team for the third straight year.

Wolcott finished his Tennessee career having played 131 total rounds in the Orange and White—sixth in program history. He also completed his collegiate career with a 72.37 career scoring average—also sixth in program history.

The Tennessee native also finished third in program history in career rounds of par or better with 64 and departed Knoxville owning two of the nine best single-season stroke averages in program history.
