Slobodnik-Stoll to Play in U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur this Weekend

East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s head women’s golf coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll will be among a group of more than 130 golfers competing in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur, which will be held from July 30th to August 4th at the Anchorage Golf Course in Anchorage, Alaska.

This is the first time playing in the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur for Slobodnik-Stoll, who has played in 12 USGA events including four U.S. Women’s Amateur Championships (1994, 1996, 1998, 2001).

“I’m really looking forward to the opportunity to play in another USGA event at such a unique location,” Slobodnik-Stoll said. “This is a tremendous field with the best senior amateurs not only in the United States, but across the world.”

Slobodnik-Stoll, who recently completed her 25th season as head coach and has led the Spartans to 22 NCAA Regional appearances and eight Big Ten titles, has continued to hone her own golf game. She has won 11 Golf Association of Michigan (GAM) Mid-Amateur Golf Championship titles, including a come-from-behind win in 2021. That last championship was Slobodnik-Stoll’s 21st in a major individual amateur or team event, including two Michigan Women’s Amateur titles and one GAM title.

The field of 132 golfers will tee off on Saturday, July 30 at the par-72, 5,787-yard Anchorage Golf Course. This will mark the first time the USGA will host an event in Alaska.

After two rounds of stroke play, the field will be cut and match play competition begins on Monday, Aug 1., with the championship match on Thursday, Aug. 4.

The field includes players from 11 different countries and from 35 states. She is one of two players from the state of Michigan.

Slobodnik-Stoll tees off on Saturday at 2:10 p.m. (ET; 10:10 a.m. in Alaska), playing alongside Marcela Coghlan of Mexico and Marie Therese Torti of Canada.
