LANCASTER, Pa. – Duke women’s golf sophomore Rylie Heflin collected seven birdies on Wednesday en route to carding a 4-under-par, 70, and placed second overall in the 86th Pennsylvania Women’s Amateur, which was held at the Lancaster Country Club in Lancaster, Pa.
A native of Avondale, Pa., Heflin registered birdies on No. 3, No. 4 and No. 7 on her way to making the turn with a 3-under, 33. She opened the back nine with back-to-back birdies to get to 5-under-par. After a double-bogey on No. 12, Heflin rebounded with two straight birdies on the 13th and 14th holes to return to 5-under. She closed with two pars and a bogey to finish with a 70.
Over the three days, Heflin totaled rounds of 74, 82 and 70 to finish with a 4-over, 226. She finished seven strokes behind Jackie Rogowicz, who took home individual medalist honors with a 3-under, 219.
Ingram Falls in Round of 32 at U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur
After carding rounds of 76 and 82 in stroke play qualifying, Duke graduate Sarah LeBrun Ingram went on to advance to the round of 32 of stroke play this past week at the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur contested at the Anchorage Golf Course in Anchorage, Alaska.
Ingram defeated Pamela Kuong, 1UP, by winning the 18th hole with a par. The match was back-and-forth the entire contest with Ingram moving on at the end. In the round of 32, Ingram went up against Martha Leach, who was seeded No. 7. Ingram was down the entire back nine, but tried to mount a comeback by winning holes No. 16 and No. 17 to cut Leach’s lead to 1UP. However, both golfers parred No. 18 and Leach advanced.
