BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Nels Surtani recorded a par on the fifth playoff hole to win the Hoosier Amateur at the Pfau Course in Bloomington, Indiana, giving the junior his second win of the summer season. Â
Â
Surtani and Indiana’s Cal Hoskins were tied after 54 holes at 2-over par 215, then each parred the first four playoff holes (17, 18, 17, 18) before Surtani’s par on No. 17 – the fifth playoff hole – was the difference.
Â
Surtani recorded rounds of 74-68-73=215 for the victory. He led by one shot entering today’s final round, but Hoskins recorded an even-par 71 to move from fourth into a first-place tie after 54 holes, forcing a playoff with Surtani.
Â
The win was Surtani’s second of the summer after winning the Northern Amateur by three shots in mid-July. He also finished third at the Indiana Open and 24th at the prestigious Monroe Invitational. Â
