Snoeberger Set for U.S. Amateur Championship


WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Already having an impressive summer under his belt, senior Peyton Snoeberger looks to extend his strong offseason with a trip to the 122nd United States Amateur being held in New Jersey starting Monday.
 
The championship begins Monday and run through Sunday at The Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey, with the sister course being the Arcola Country Club in Paramus, as 312 competitors play in a grueling week in search of becoming America’s amateur champion.
 
Competitors will play 18 holes on both Monday and Tuesday with the top 64 finishers advancing to match play beginning on Wednesday. Players will play one stroke play round on each course, while match play will be contested on Ridgewood only.
 
Wednesday’s first round of match play consists of 32 matches. Thursday’s action will be the second (16 matches) and third rounds (eight matches) of match play. Friday’s play will consist of the quarterfinals, the semifinals will be hosted on Saturday and the 36-hole championship match will be on Sunday. NBC, the Golf Channel and Peacock will broadcast live all week.
 
Snoeberger has had a good summer and is looking to make a mark in New Jersey before returning to Indiana for the fall season. He advanced to the U.S. Amateur by finishing second in qualifying in Kentucky. He also played second at the Indiana Open this past July.
 
Snoeberger will begin play Monday at 1:28 p.m. ET, off hole No. 1 at the Arcola Country Club, paired with Canadian Owen Mullen (Notre Dame) and James Imai (Northwestern). The trio will tee off at 8:13 a.m. ET, off hole 9 at Ridgwood on Tuesday.
