Golf Heritage Society to hold 2022 convention in Indianapolis

Golf aficionados will have the opportunity to obtain pieces of the sport’s history during the 51st Golf Heritage Society’s national convention in September.

The group that celebrates golf history is meeting from Sept. 21-24 at the Wyndham Indianapolis West hotel near the Indianapolis International Airport. The event culminates with a trade show on Saturday, Sept. 24, in the hotel grand ballroom. Members of the public are invited.

Golf Heritage Society members are eligible to play rounds of golf in the area and take in seminars about Alice and Pete Dye and preserving classic clubs. There will also be a golf memorabilia trade show, “with some of the world’s most fascinating golf collectibles available for trade or purchase,” according to the GHS.

Chris Wirthwein, author and Crooked Stick Golf Club historian, is the keynote speaker at the annual banquet.

“The GHS will host a memorable national convention in Indianapolis, with a variety of programs and activities for attendees to enjoy,” said Dr. Bern Bernacki, president of the Society, “including stories and tributes to Pete and Alice Dye, as well as an architects panel discussion – and plenty of camaraderie.”

Founded in 1970, the GHS is a global nonprofit organization that honors and preserves golf’s history. Go to golfheritage.org for more information.
