Vavrova Set for World Team Championships


Nebraska junior Michaela Vavrova will represent her home country of Slovakia this week at the 2022 World Amateur Team Championships in Paris, France.

The 29th women’s championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy gets underway Wednesday, Aug. 24 and concludes Saturday, Aug. 27, at Le Golf National (Albatros Course).

Vavrova and her Slovakian teammates, Katarina Drocarova and Antonia Zacharovska, make up one of the 59 teams competing at the championship, which is hosted by the French Golf Federation. Le Golf National, which was also the site of the 2018 Ryder Cup, will play host to the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

Vavrova and the Slovakians played their first practice round on Monday at Le Golf National, before moving to Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche for Tuesday’s tune-up round. Slovakia is grouped with Switzerland and South Africa in the tournament’s first two rounds on Wednesday and Thursday at Golf de Saint-Nom-la-Breteche.
