Buckeyes Set Another Challenging Schedule – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State men’s golf head coach Jay Moseley has set, yet again, a challenging schedule for his squad on some of the country’s top courses.

The fall opens with an exclusive event at the Frederica Cup at the Frederica Golf Club in Simons Island, Ga. That will be followed by the Inverness Intercollegiate in Toledo, Ohio at the end of September. Inverness has hosted six U.S. Open Championships as well as two PGA Championships, a U.S. Amateur and Junior Amateur, and most recently, the 2021 Solheim Cup.

A week later, the Buckeyes will play in the Hamptons Invitational at the prestigious Maidstone Club. The final event of the fall is the Cal Poly Collegiate which is being played at The Preserve Golf Club in California.

The spring portion of the schedule features six regular season events before the Big Ten Championship and the NCAA Regional. The first event is the Puerto Rico Classic in mid-February followed by the Colleton River Collegiate in early March. The Buckeyes finished fourth at Colleton River last spring behind Adam Wallin’s first collegiate win. He shot rounds of 68-69-65 to finish at 14-under par.

The Buckeyes head back to St. Simons Island in mid-March for the Sea Island Invitational before closing the month at the Valspar Collegiate at the Floridian Golf Club. The team has played in the Valspar Collegiate, which typically features one of the toughest fields in college golf, each of the last two seasons. Maxwell Moldovan finished runner-up in 2021 and 14th this past season. He is a combined 13-under par in his six rounds at the Floridian.

The Calusa Cup at Calusa Pines kicks off the final month of the regular season in early April. The Buckeyes will then have a couple of weeks off to prepare for the annual Robert Kepler Intercollegiate, which will be played April 21-23. The event returns to the Scarlet Course as it was played at Columbus Country Club this past spring due to Scarlet hosting the NCAA Regional. The Buckeyes have won the Kepler as a team 24 times in the tournament’s 50-year history and a Buckeye has also taken individual medalist honors 23 times, with Maxwell Moldovan winning last spring.

The Big Ten Championship will be played at Galloway National Golf Club in New Jersey. Galloway National has hosted numerous NCAA Regionals and the tournament will run from April 28-30. NCAA Regionals will be contested at one of six sites from May 15-17 and the NCAA Championships will return to the Grayhawk Golf Club…
