COLUMBUS, Ohio – Three Ohio State men’s golfers have been named to the list of Big Ten Preseason honorees. Senior Jackson Chandler along with juniors Maxwell Moldovan and Adam Wallin will all be players to watch this season.
Moldovan is coming off an All-American season last year that saw him set the OSU single-season scoring average and earn first team All-Big Ten honors. He averaged 71.03 and had 23 rounds at par or better. He also won three times, including Robert Kepler Intercollegiate. This summer, Moldovan advanced to the round of 16 at the US Amateur.
Wallin earned second team All-Big Ten honors last season and was nearly stride for stride with Moldovan, averaging 71.97 and posting 10 rounds in the 60s. He too claimed his first collegiate victory last spring, winning the Colleton River Collegiate at 14-under par. Wallin has had a great summer as well and is representing Team Sweden at the World Amateur Team Championship this week.
Chandler was third on the team last season in scoring at 73.34. He registered four Top 20 finishes and 13 rounds at par or better. The Dublin, Ohio native led the Buckeyes at the Columbus Regional, posting rounds of 72-69-70 (-2) and posted the first Top 5 finish of his career. This summer, he finished runner-up at the Monroe Invitational and also had a Top 10 at the Ohio Amateur.
The Buckeyes will open the season next week at the Frederica Cup in St. Simons Island, Ga.
