LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The Wake Forest women’s golf team is in second place and six strokes off the lead heading into Wednesday’s final round of the ANNIKA Intercollegiate.
Senior Lauren Walsh led the way for the Deacs, shooting a career-low 66 in her second round. Two birdies on her first nine holes and five more on her second, including a birdie on the par-five 18th, helped her jump 13 spots on the individual leaderboard to be in contention for the title.
As a team, Wake Forest had the lowest second-round score in the field, carding a nine-under 279. The Deacs are one of just three teams under par for the event heading into the final day.
Graduate student Emilia Migliaccio’s four-under 68 aided in the Deacs’ jump and helped her rise 16 spots on the board to finish day two inside the top 10 at tied for ninth. Birdies on her first two holes of the day boosted her performance from the beginning, and three more before the round was over maintained her position.
Senior Rachel Kuehn and junior Mimi Rhodes each improved from their first-round scores, with Kuehn carding an even par for the day and Rhodes finishing one over on the round.
Final Round
Wednesday’s final round will begin at 9 a.m. ET with the Deacs teeing off in 10-minute intervals off the first tee beginning at 9:50 a.m. Wake Forest will be paired with Virginia and South Carolina.
