Making its tournament debut, Florida posted its lowest round of the season, a 281 (-8) to own the lead after the first 18 holes today. The score set a new record for the event as the previous was 282 by Auburn in 2014. In the second round, the Gators finished with a 288 (E). Texas leads the tournament at -14 with Texas A&M behind at -7 as the next closest team, Miami, is eight strokes back from UF.
Filler was one of three Gators to go under-par in round one. She fired her second round of 67 (-5) of the season with no bogeys. The Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. native followed up with her third round of the season in the 60s with a 69 (-3). She ended 8-under and owned the solo lead throughout the day as Sophie Guo of Texas is a tick ahead of her at -9.
The next three in the lineup – Jackie Lucena, Annabell Fuller, Karoline Tuttle – all reside in the top-25. Both Fuller (T19) and Lucena (T16) had 1-under first rounds. After a bumpy end to the front nine, Tuttle (T22) sank three consecutive birdies on the back (12-14) as she carried the momentum in round two to card an even 72. Cutting two strokes off her previous 18.
Rounding out the lineup is Taylor Roberts in T42 and competing as individual, Jenny Kim is tied for 71st.
