SKOKIE, Ill. – Currently ranked No. 25 in the country, Wisconsin men’s golf is hitting the road to play in Northwestern’s 2022 Windon Memorial Classic at Evanston Golf Club in Skokie, Illinois on Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27.
Here are five things you need to know before the team tees off on Monday:
1. Last Time Out: Wisconsin last competed at home in the 2022 Badger Invitational Sept. 11-13. The team placed second out of 18 teams with a 567 (-9), shooting a round-low of 279 (-9). Two new Badgers, Clayton Tribus and Maxime Legros, had top-10 finishes with Tribus tied for third overall and Legros tied for seventh. Because of his success in his first invite with the Badgers, Clay Tribus was voted Big Ten Golfer of the Week.
2. The Course: One of the home courses of Northwestern University, Evanston Golf Club is par-70 and will be playing at 6,885 yards for the Classic. The course, which is located in Skokie, Illinois, opened it’s doors in 1919 and was designed by Donald Ross. The Evanston Golf Club has held a variety of tournaments over its 100+ years of being open. The club last held the Windon Memorial Classic in 2017, which was the third time the course hosted since the tournament began.
3. The Tournament: The Windon Memorial Classic is being held for the 25th time this year since beginning in 1993. The competition will feature 36 holes on Monday and 18 holes on Tuesday. Monday’s 36 holes will start at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start, while Tuesday will start with tee times off holes 1 and 10 at 8 a.m. CT.
4. The Field: Competing in the tournament are Augusta, Cal Poly, Indiana, Kent State, Little Rock, Loyola (Maryland), Marquette, North Florida, Northwestern, Oral Roberts, South Florida, UC Davis and Wisconsin. After team qualifying competitions, the Badgers’ lineup is Cameron Huss, Coalter Smith, Clayton Tribus, Maxime Legros and Daniel Aas.
