Stanford No. 1, Wake Forest No. 2

Stanford got all 22 first-place votes in the preseason poll but Wake Forest has chipped away in the latest WGCA Div. I coaches poll.

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association released the results of its latest coaches poll Friday; this is the second poll of the 2022-23 season.

The Cardinal, the defending national champion, remains No. 1 but instead of garnering all 22 first-place votes that it did in the preseason poll, Stanford received 19 votes this time around, with Wake Forest collecting the other three.

Virginia, meanwhile, jumped seven spots to No. 3. South Carolina holds steady at No. 4, while Texas moved up 11 spots to get into the top five.

San Jose State is 13th but the Spartans did get a first-place vote in this poll.

About the Women’s Golf Coaches Association

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association, founded in 1983, is a non-profit organization representing women’s collegiate golf coaches. The WGCA was formed to encourage the playing of college golf for women in correlation with a general objective of education and in accordance with the highest tradition of intercollegiate competition.
