Women’s Golf in Third Ahead of Sunday’s Final Round


Franklin, Tenn. – On the first Saturday of fall, the Mississippi State women’s golf team completed the second round of the Mason Rudolph Championship at the Vanderbilt Legends Golf Club. After 36 holes of play, State is in third-place shooting 12-under par (564). The Bulldogs are six strokes back of first-place Vanderbilt (18-under par) and four strokes behind host university, Arizona (18-under par).
 
As a team, the Bulldogs recorded the third lowest second round in MSU history (8-under par). 8-under par is the 13th lowest team round in MSU history. After 36 holes, State has recorded the sixth lowest team score in program history (12-under).
 
The No. 31 ranked Bulldogs used a second straight day of strong individual performances from 1-5 on the scorecard. Four members of the Maroon and White recorded under-par performances on the day. As a team, MSU rolled in 73 pars in the second round, marking the second consecutive day with 70+ pars.
 
Hannah Levi was on fire throughout the second round from Franklin. After two rounds, Levi is tied for fifth (5-under par). Levi rolled in seven birdies, including ending the day with four straight on holes 15-18 to record her sixth career round in the 60s (4-under par, 68). Throughout the event, Levi is leading the field with 10 birdies.
 
Competing in her second career event, Izzy Pellot finished tied for 8th with a 3-under par after 36 holes. Going back to the last tournament, Pellot has now recorded four straight rounds of par or better golf. Pellot recorded 16 pars bookended by two birdies to card a 2-under (70) on the day. Throughout the event, Pellot has rolled in the second most pars with 29.  
 
Ashley Gilliam used a strong round to be tied for 13th (2-under) heading into Sunday. In the second round, Gilliam worked around two bogies by rolling in a birdie on hole 7 before sinking 15 pars on the day to finish 1-over par (73).
 
The sophomore/senior duo of Julia Lopez Ramirez and Abbey Daniel are both sitting at even par and tied for 20th. Daniel sunk two birdies on the front nine and 15 pars to finish 1-under (71). Lopez Ramirez sunk four birdies, including 11 pars to finish 1-under (71).
 
The Bulldogs will be paired with Arizona and Vanderbilt for Sunday’s final round, teeing off in 10-minute intervals between 9:40-10:20 a.m. CT. Live scoring will be…
