NORMAN, Okla. – The Illinois women’s golf team finished round two of the Schooner Fall Classic in 12th place after carding a 1294 (+14). The Fighting Illini have posted a 36-hole total of 570 (+10), as they head into Sunday’s final round at Belmar Golf Club.
Isabel Sy matched her career low-round total for the second-straight round, carding a 67 (-3) that moved her sole possession of second place on the individual leaderboard. The San Gabriel, Calif., native posted a bogey-free round, tallying all three of her birdies on the back nine. Sy has recorded the joint-lowest cumulative score on Par 3s through the first two rounds, at two-under par.
Crystal Wang turned in a 71 (+1) in her second round, as she ends the day tied for third. Wang is poised to record her fifth-straight Top-15 finish.
The Diamond Bar., Calif., native, along with Sy, both seek to become the Illini’s first individual tournament winner since Tristyn Nowlin shared the title at the 2019 edition of the Schooner Fall Classic.
Mattie Frick, Lexanne Halama and Alise Knudson all carded a 78 (+8) in the second round. Respectively, they rank tied for 75th, tied for 79th and 83rd.
Florida State leads the tournament with a two-round team score of 552 (-8) and Louisville’s Carmen Griffiths leads all individuals with a two-round total of 133 (-7).
Monday’s third and final round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. CT.
