Michigan State in Seventh Place After Second Round at Folds of Honor Collegiate


East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s men’s golf team shot an 8-over par for the second-straight day and is seventh place among 18 teams in the in Folds of Honor Collegiate at American Dunes Golf Course in Grand Haven, Mich.

The three-day, 54-hole tournament concludes on Wednesday, Sept. 28. The Spartans are serving as a host for the first-time event along with The Folds of Honor, American Dunes and the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA). Proceeds from the tournament will benefit the Folds of Honor and the GCAA Presidential Scholar Fund.

Second Round Results

Illinois fired an 11-under par 277 in the second round and leads the 18-team field at 7-under par 869. The Illini have an 11-shot lead on second place Florida State (4-over par 580). Arizona and Liberty are tied for third place at 7-over par 583, while Kansas is fifth at 9-over par 585.

Oregon State is in sixth place at 10-over par 586 and the Spartans are in seventh place with a two-day, 36-hole score of 14-over par 590.

Junior Drew Hackett is one two Spartans sitting among the top-25 individuals. He shot a 1-over par 73 on Tuesday and is tied for 15th place at 2-over par 146.

Junior August Meekhof is one shot back, tied for 19th place at 3-over par 147 after posting a 1-over par 73 in the second round.

Sophomore Ashton McCulloch was the third MSU player to shoot a 1-over par 73 on the day and he is tied for 24th place at 4-over par 148.

Fifth year Troy Taylor II shot a 4-over par 76 in the second round and is tied for 29th place at 5-over par 149.

Senior Bradley Smithson is tied for 46th place at 8-over par 152, carding a 4-over par 76 on Tuesday.

The Spartans will tee off beginning at 9:15 a.m. (1st hole), playing alongside NC State and Grand Valley State.
