Women’s Golf Ranked 11th in First Golfweek Rankings

STARKVILLE – Following an impressive come-from-behind team victory in the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship last week, the Mississippi State women’s golf squad is ranked 11th in the nation by Golfweek.

It was a valiant, all-hands-on-deck performance in Franklin, Tenn. last week as the Bulldogs faced a six-shot deficit in third-place entering the final round of the Mason Rudolph Championship. With a 19-under par (845) performance, State rallied to capture the 2022 Mason Rudolph Championship. As a team, MSU recorded the fourth lowest third round in MSU history (7-under par). 19-under par is the fifth lowest tally after 54 holes as a team in school history.  The Bulldogs defeated a loaded field that featured six ranked teams, including two in the top-25 and No. 6 ranked Ohio State.

A pair of Dawgs also earned spots in this week’s Golfweek Collegiate Individual Rankings, with Julia Lopez Ramirez climbing into 18th and Hannah Levi joining the rankings at 49.

Lopez Ramirez delivered a strong individual performance down the stretch last time on the greens in the Maroon and White. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Year eagled the par-5 14th hole before finishing her round with three consecutive birdies to secure her ninth top-five finish, tying for fourth.

Levi was essential for State throughout the Mason Rudolph Championship. Through three consecutive rounds of par or better golf, Levi captured her fifth top-5 finish, joining Lopez Ramirez for fourth. Throughout the event, Levi rolled in 13 birdies (second-most).

Mississippi State will return to action Oct. 3-5 for the annual Blessings Collegiate Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark. Fans will be able to tune in via the Golf Channel for all three days of action, with coverage set to begin at 3:30 p.m. CT each day.
