GUNBARREL, Colo. – The Washington State men’s golf team is looking to build off a strong start to their fall season as they head to Colorado for the 2022 Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational, Oct. 3-4, at the Boulder Country Club. This is the first time the Cougars will compete in this tournament since the 2016-2017 season.
The Course and Format
The 2022 Mark Simpson Invitational will feature a two-day team tournament that will be played at the Boulder Country Club; a 7,021-yard, par-70 course. The individual champion at the Mark Simpson-Colorado Invitational will not only receive the usual trophy and recognition for winning a major college tournament but will also earn an exemption into next summer’s The Ascendant presented by Blue at TPC Colorado, one of the newer stops on the Korn Ferry Tour.

The Field
Host Colorado along with Washington State are the two schools representing the Pac-12. Additionally, Wyoming, Denver, UMKC, Nevada, Louisiana-Monroe, Utah Valley, Utah State, UTEP, Grand Canyon, Boise State, Rice, Arkansas State, Northern Colorado, and Southern Utah will compete for the title in Colorado.

Last Time Out
Washington State opened its 2022-2023 season on a high note after the Cougars posted a three-round score of 4-over, 868, to win the Husky Invitational. Junior Jaden Cantafio led WSU after he shot 4-under; 68 in the final round to finish at 3-under, 213, good for third place overall. He moved up 15 places over his final round, which included five birdies and an eagle on the par-4 18th.
