Boilermakers Surge Again in Final Round to Move Up Leaderboard

RIVER HILLS, Wis. – For the third straight tournament, the Purdue men’s golf team pieced together its best round of the event, moving up three spots to finish fifth at the Marquette Intercollegiate held at the Milwaukee Country Club in River Hills, Wis.

The Boilermakers fired a 2-over par 282, the third-lowest team round of the day, to finish the 54-hole event at 20-over par 860 (288-290-282), good for fifth place and 15 shots behind tournament champion Auburn (+5; 845). Northwestern and Marquette tied at 11-over par 851, while Iowa State was fourth at 16-over par 856. The Boilermakers defeated top-40 squads South Florida and Charlotte for their second top-five team finish of the year.

In all three tournaments, Purdue jumped past several teams to record top-half finishes. At the Badger Invitational, Purdue moved up eight spots to finish fifth in the final standings. At the Inverness Intercollegiate, Purdue moved up three spots in the final round to finish eighth overall.

For the second straight tournament, Herman Sekne led the Boilermakers, finishing tied for sixth at 2-over par 212 (72-68-72). It marks the seventh time in his last 10 tournaments dating to last year that he has recorded a top-10 finish.

Andrew Farraye had his best tournament of the young season, tying for 16th place at 5-over par 215 (72-74-69). His 1-under par 69 in today’s final round was one of just 10 scores in the 60s today.

Nick Dentino finished tied for 30th at 7-over par 217 (71-74-72), while Peyton Snoeberger was tied for 39th at 8-over par 218 (73-75-70). Nels Surtani was tied for 52nd at 11-over par 221 (76-74-71).

Playing as an individual, Luke Prall was 78th at 17-over par 227 (75-74-78).
