FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The No. 15 UCLA women’s golf team was the only team to shoot under par in round two of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational with a 1-under 287 as it jumped four spots on the leaderboard into a tie for fourth at 23-over. The Bruins gained 12 strokes on the new leader, who is now Ole Miss at 15-over.
Junior Ty Akabane bounced back from her 10-over 82 yesterday with the lowest second round score in the 57-woman field with a 4-under 68 featuring eight birdies. Akabane rose 27 spots into a tie for 17th at 6-over for the tournament.

Following a rough hole 14 that saw three Bruins bogey, UCLA’s four counting scores in round two – Akabane, Alessia Nobilio, Zoe Antoinette Campos and Caroline Canales – were a collective 4-under on the final four holes.
Nobilio also finished under par with a 1-under 71 thanks to back-to-back birdies to close the day. Nobilio hit her 17th-hole tee shot six feet past the hole and drained the putt. After approach shot on 18 rolled through the green and onto the fringe, she ended her round with a chip-in a birdie.

Campos shot a 1-over 73 with four birdies. She saved her day with two huge up-and-down bogeys on the 16th and 17th.
After two double bogeys on the front nine, Caroline Canales limited further damage with two birdies on 15 and 17.
Of note was the moral support provided from Blessings volunteer scorer, Tyson, throughout the round.
