Biondi’s Final Round Jump Gators Five Spots on Final Day

FORTH WORTH, Texas – After ending in 14th place yesterday, the Florida men’s golf team jumped five spots on the final day to finish T9 at the Ben Hogan Collegiate on Tuesday.

The Gators used a team score of (-1) to make the final round move behind Fred Biondi’s 64 (-6). His round was the second lowest in the tournament, only a stroke behind Preston Summerhays’ 63 of Arizona State.

Biondi started strong in the final round at Colonial Country Club at 2-under to make the turn. He started off the front with back-to-back birdies and sank three straight to close out to finish T15. The 64 is the second by a Gator senior this season as John DuBois (T47) recorded one in round two of SEC Match Play last week. It is the only third time a Gator senior has done so with the last being Tyson Alexander, who earned his PGA Tour Card this year, in 2010.

Posting his third top-25 finish of the fall, Yuxin Lin finished T22. He used a 1-under outing on the front to end with a 70 (E) and +1 overall. Quentin Debove (T47) wrapped up round three with his lowest score of the event with a 71 (+1) as Ricky Castillo placed T60.

Florida concludes the fall schedule at the Isleworth Collegiate from Oct. 23-25th.
