Fayetteville, Ark. – The 8th-ranked Mississippi State women’s golf team completed the second round of the Blessings Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday. After 36 holes, the Bulldogs are in second place with 17-over (593). MSU is two strokes behind first-place, No. 10 Ole Miss (15-over, 591) and leads No. 2 Texas A&M by 1 stroke (18-over, 594).
As a team, the Bulldogs have recorded 31-combined birdies and 98 pars in the first 36 holes of play.
Sophomore standout Julia Lopez Ramirez is in second place with a two-day total of 2-under. In the second round, Lopez Ramirez sunk 11 pars and added two birdies on the day to bring her two-day score to 2-under par. Through 36 holes, Lopez Ramirez has rolled in the most birdies with 12.
Izzy Pellot continues to impress in her early Bulldog career. Pellot carded four birdies on Tuesday to finish tied for 12th with a score of 5-over heading into the final round.
Abbey Daniel used a birdie on hole 18 before making the turn to gain momentum for a strong back nine to finish tied for 17th with 6-over. After making the turn, Daniel turned in five pars and a birdie on holes 1-6. Daniel has seven birdies throughout the event so far (fourth most).
The senior duo of Hannah Levi and Ashley Gilliam round out the scoring for the Bulldogs. From holes 13-18, Levi parred five, adding a birdie on 17 to finish 26th with 8-over. Gilliam parred 11 holes on Tuesday, including five straight on holes 2-6 to finish 45th with 15-over. Gilliam has parred the sixth most times of the event (21).
Mississippi State will tee off from Hole 1 at 10:45 am for Wednesday’s final round from the 2022 Blessings Collegiate Invitational.
