Senior competitive golf continues to be bigger and better than ever and USA Today Sports/Golfweek is excited to play a large part in that growth. The U.S. Golf Association has granted twenty-five exemptions into the U.S. Senior Amateur, to be held in 2023 at Martis Camp in Truckee, CA, through the WAGR ranking system found HERE. Golfweek and its Senior Amateur Rankings found HERE are part of that system.
During the past year over 950 senior golfers have played in Golfweek Elite Senior Amateur Tournament’s while also trying to qualify for the U.S. Senior Amateur through exemption.
The remaining 3-tournament lineup for 2022 includes The Champion at PGA National, a longtime favorite Golfweek stop, as well as two new and exciting venues: Sewaillo at Casion Del Sol in Tucson, AZ and the tournament course at Jacaranda Golf Club in Plantation, FL.
The 2023 Golfweek Player of the Year Classic will return this year to the private and challenging Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, in Tampa FL. USA Today Sports/Golfweek will honor the top-three players in each of the four divisions and present the POY award to the top player in division. USA Today Sports will also present the prestigious Yancey Ford Award to a person who exceeds playing ability alone, having contributed time and effort to the spirit and foundation of amateur golf.
A spring time highlight comes when we head West for a two-tournament stop at Desert Willow in beautiful Palm Desert, CA.
All 2022 and 2023 Golfweek tournaments are 54-hole WAGR counting events.
