Two Wolfpack Golfers Win in Match Play Portion of Ivy Intercollegiate


SPRINGFIELD, N.J. – NC State women’s golf wrapped up the final day of competition at the Ivy Intercollegiate on Tuesday with Lauren Olivares Leon and Natalie Armbruester each claiming individual match play victories.

Olivares Leon backed up her first career top-five finish in stroke play with a 1UP win over Penn’s Julie Shin, winning five of the last six holes in an exciting comeback victory. Natalie Armbruester earned the Pack’s other win with a a 3&2 defeat of Penn’s Natalie Cao.

Isabel Amezcua, Pilar Berchot, and Vania Simont each competed for the Wolfpack as well. Amezcua dropped a 5&4 bought to Harvard’s Bridget Ma, while Simont fell 2&1 to Yale’s Alexis Kim. Berchot rounded out the NC State lineup with a 3&2 loss to Paige Harrison of Columbia.

Up Next

The Wolfpack will now shift its focus to the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational at the Governor’s Club in Chapel Hill, N.C. Last year NC State competed in the same event at the Finley Golf Club, where the Pack earned a 14th place finish. The tournament well be held on October 17 & 18 and play will take place throughout the entirety of each day.
