Play Suspended Late In Rd 2 At Ruth's Chris Tar Heel Invitational

Round two of the Ruth’s Chris Tar Heel Invitational was suspended due to lightning and darkness Monday at the Governor’s Club in Chapel Hill. Only four of the 14 women’s golf teams completed all 36 holes scheduled for today.

The teams will finish round two beginning at 9 a.m. on Tuesday then immediately go into the third and final round.

Duke’s Phoebe Brinker and Kentucky’s Laney Frye share the individual lead at 6 under par, although neither has completed their second rounds.

Louisville’s Carmen Griffiths, who aced the 14th hole en route to a 67 in the second round, is third at 5-under 139, the low score among those players who have completed 36 holes.

Wake Forest’s Lauren Walsh and NC State’s Vania Simont are in at 4 under and North Carolina’s Kayla Smith is 4 under with one hole to complete. Smith made five birdies in a six-hole stretch in round two.

Duke shot a 1-under to lead after round one, two strokes ahead of Michigan State.

Carolina’s Megan Streicher shot 71-70 for a 3-under 141, Crista Izuzquiza shot 2-under 70 in the first round and Inez Ng posted 70 in the second.
