Peng Tied For 4th; UW In 6th After First Round In Georgia


ALPHARETTA, Ga. – Led by a 4-under 68 from Bo Peng, the Washington men’s golf team finished the first round of the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate Invitational in sixth place, with a team total of 6-under 282.
 
The Huskies enter the second of three rounds three strokes back of 3rd place, and six strokes from the lead, in a field that includes eight teams ranked in the top-25 in the nation.
 
Peng, a senior, opened his round with an eagle-3 on the 542-yard first hole, and added an eagle on No. 9 as well. Those two eagles, along with three bogies and three birdies left him at 4-under, good for a tie for fourth place.
 
Petr Hruby, who had missed the UW’s most recent competition due to injury, returned on Friday, and carded the UW’s second-best round with a 1-under 71, tying him for 25th place. .
 
Junior Taehoon Song matched Hruby’s score, with five birdies and four bogies, also tying him for 25th.
 
Freshman Joshua Koo carded an even-par 72 to tie him for 34th place, while junior Teddy Lin was 3-over for the round.
