Bruins to Play on National T.V. at East Lake Cup

LOS ANGELES – The No. 20 women’s golf team will compete at the historic East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia at the eighth annual East Lake Cup from Monday, Oct. 24 through Wednesday, Oct. 26.

Highlights from the event will be broadcasted on Golf Channel each day from 12 p.m. – 3 p.m. PT each day. Additionally, live stats and other information about the tournament can be found here.

Every year since 2015, the East Lake Cup has invited the final four teams from the previous season’s NCAA Championship to compete in the event at East Lake Golf Club, which is the site of the PGA Tour’s annual TOUR Championship as well as the home course of golf legend Bobby Jones. This year, the 2021 NCAA Champion Stanford Cardinal awarded their invite to UCLA as it is hosting the Stanford Intercollegiate.

Day one of the four-team tournament will feature one round of stroke play, which will determine seeding for the match play portion of the event. At the conclusion of the lone round of stroke play, a team and individual champion will be crowned.

Day two is set to feature the first round of match play followed by the final day where the championship match and consolation match will be played.

Lineup (1-5): Zoe Antoinette Campos, Caroline Canales, Alessia Nobilio, Annabel Wilson and Emilie Paltrinieri.

Field: UCLA will be pitted up against three of last year’s match-play participants. The Bruins’ opponents are No. 6 Oregon, No. 18 UCLA No. 25 Auburn and No. 3 Texas A&M. UCLA fell to Auburn in the match play quarterfinals of last year’s NCAA Championships.

A Glance at the Bruins

Sophomore Caroline Canales enters the tournament leading UCLA with a 72.3 scoring average and one of just two Bruins to have every round count towards the team score this season (Ty Akabane).

Canales is coming off her second top-20 finish of the year at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, tying for 14th at 8-over through three rounds. Fellow sophomore Zoe Antoinette Campos posted a 2-under 70 in her final round at the Blessings to lead the Bruins with a T-5th (+4) spot in her first tournament of the season.
