Virginia Men's Golf | UVA Ends Fall with Sixth-Place Finish at GCGC

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The No. 7 Virginia men’s golf team tied for sixth place at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate on Sunday in Alpharetta, Ga. UVA shot 6-under 282 during the final round, its best 18-hole score for the three-day event, for a 54-hole total of 10-under 854.

Fifth-ranked Stanford won the tournament at 23-under 841, one shot ahead of host Georgia Tech and Pepperdine. A total of eight of the 13 teams in the field were ranked in the current Golfstat top-25 standings.

UVA was led by senior Pietro Bovari who finished 10th overall. He had a final-round score of 2-under 70 and ended the tournament at 5-under 211. It was the 10th top-10 finish for Bovari during his Cavalier career and his third of the fall.

Freshman Ben James was UVA’s second-place finisher. He shot 4-over 76 to end the tournament in 20th place at 2-under 214. George Duangmanee was 32nd at 1-over 217 after posting a final-round score of 1-under 71.

Chris Fosdick also shot 71 on Sunday and was one stroke behind Duangmanee on the leaderboard in 36th place. Deven Patel matched Bovari for the team’s low score on Sunday at 2-under 70. He moved up to 61st place at 8-over 224. 

The tournament was UVA’s final event on its fall schedule. The Cavaliers resume play in February when they compete at the Thomas Sharkey Individual tournament Feb. 6-7 in Statesboro, Ga.
