Women’s Golf | October 24, 2022
Sophomore Amari Avery, who leads USC in virtually every category in her first fall as a Trojan, has been named to the ANNIKA Award’s Final Fall Watch List, the award announced Monday (Oct. 24).
Avery, a finalist for the award as a 2022 freshman after she started as a spring semester enrollee, is among 20 women’s golfers on the list.
Competing in the fall for the first time after joining USC in January, Avery leads USC in stroke average (71.33), rounds in the 60s (four), rounds under par (six) and rounds of par or better (seven) in 12 rounds.
She won her fourth collegiate event at the Windy City Collegiate Classic at 6-under and also has a pair of top 14 finishes in four fall starts.
Avery’s 14 career rounds in the 60s is good for a tie for seventh on USC’s career chart with Trojan great Lizette Salas. The USC career record is 22.
Her current stroke average is under the USC season record of 71.36. Avery posted a 71.64 as a freshman, sixth-best in school history.
USC finishes the fall schedule at the Pac-12 Preview, Oct. 31-Nov. 2, in Hawaii.
