COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Maxwell Moldovan’s great start to the season has been recognized nationally, as he is one of 20 golfers named to the Final Fall Haskins Award Watch List presented by Stifel.
Now in it’s 53rd year, the Fred Haskins Award is the oldest individual college golf award and the only award to be voted on by players, coaches, golf SID’s, and select golf media.
Moldovan has led the Buckeyes in each of the first three events this fall. He finished 13th at the Frederica Cup with a 54-hole total of 10-under par and then was third at the Inverness Intercollegiate and runner-up at the Hamptons Intercollegiate. The Uniontown, Ohio native owns a 70.78 scoring average with four rounds in the 60s and six of his nine rounds at par or better. Those four rounds in the 60s has given him 28 for his career which sets a new program record.
For his career, Moldovan has played in 23 events and has a 71.16 scoring average with three victories and 10 Top-10 finishes. He is a two-time All-Big Ten honoree and became the first Buckeye to earn first, second or third team All-America honors since 1998 when he was awarded third team accolades last season.
Moldovan and the Buckeyes will complete the fall portion season next week at the Cal Poly Collegiate which will be played at The Preserve GC in Carmel-by-the-Sea, Calif.
