DURHAM – The 10th-ranked Duke women’s golf team will travel to Wilmington, N.C., this week to close the fall campaign at the Landfall Tradition, which will be contested at the 6,150-yard, par-72 Country Club of Landfall. The tournament will be held Oct. 28-30 with 18 holes of stroke play being played each day.
The field includes Alabama, Central Florida, Duke, Florida State, Furman, Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State, NC State, North Carolina, Penn State, Purdue, San Jose State, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest and UNC Wilmington. The 2022 field features five top-20 teams – Wake Forest (2), South Carolina (4), Duke (10), San Jose State (11) and Florida State (19).
Duke will feature a lineup of senior Erica Shepherd, juniors Phoebe Brinker and Anne Chen, sophomore Rylie Heflin and freshman Andie Smith. Brinker is coming off a tied for first finish at the Tar Heel Invitational, before falling in a playoff. She is currently ranked No. 17 in the Golfweek Individual rankings, while Shepherd is No. 49.
The Blue Devils will compete in the Landfall Tradition for the ninth time and the first since 2018. Duke claimed the team title in each of its last three appearances in 2018, 2017 and 2015. Three Blue Devils have won individual medalist honors in the event – Virginia Elena Carta & Gina Kim (2018) and Ana Belac (2017).
