Benedetta Moresco, Sarah Edwards Lead Women’s Golf in the Second Round of the Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Alabama’s Benedetta Moresco and Sarah Edwards combined to shoot 9-under par Saturday and lead the women’s golf team in round two of the Landfall Tradition. As a team, the Crimson Tide will come into Sunday’s final 18 holes in 10^th place with a 36-hole score of 7-over 583 (293-290).

Both Moresco (74-66) and Edwards (71-69) shined Saturday and will enter the third round in a tie for sixth overall with matching scores of 4-under par 140.

The third and final round will tee off Sunday on the par 72, 6,150-yard Country Club of Landfall ­– Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C. The 18-team field will begin with a shotgun start at 7:45 a.m. CT.

Day Two Highlights

• Benedetta Moresco’s round of 66 was her best mark of the season and matched the team’s lowest 18-hole score of the year (Sarah Edwards)
• Moresco began her day with a birdie, bogey and three pars, and was at even par after the first five holes, but then caught fire as she finished with six birdies over her final 13 holes
• Edwards began the day with four consecutive birdies on her way to finishing with five birdies and a pair of bogeys resulting in the 3-under 69
• It marked Edwards’ third round in the 60s this season which is tied for the team lead (Kynadie Adams)
• Edwards is tied for the team lead in par 3 scoring (-2, 2.75) with Moresco just behind (-1, 2.88)
• Kynadie Adams is in a tie for 51^st with a two-day score of 149 (72-77)
• Taylor Kehoe (76-82/158) and Isabella van der Biest (81-78/159) round out the Crimson Tide lineup in 88^th and 91^st, respectively

The Field

• No. 9 San Jose State (-14, 562) continues to hold a slim lead over No. 2 Wake Forest (-10, 566)
• No. 4 South Carolina (-4. 572) and No. 18 Florida State (-4. 572) are tied for third with North Carolina State (-2, 574) rounding out the top five
• The Crimson Tide is just three strokes behind No. 26 UCF (+4, 580) in sixth place
