San Jose State, ranked ninth by Golfstat, posted a six-shot victory over second-ranked Wake Forest to claim the team title. The Spartans carded an impressive 22-under 842 (278-284-280) to edge the Deacs. Co-medalist Louisa Carlbom accounted for a 10-under 206 to pace San Jose State. Four of the Spartans’ five golfers finished inside the top-20. Eighteenth-ranked Florida State took third, one shot behind Wake Forest, at 15-under 849. No. 4 South Carolina recorded a 12-under 852 to place fourth, while UCF rounded out the top five at 3-over 867.
Tech returned rounds of 302, 300 and 302 for a 904. Morgan Ketchum and Alyssa Montgomery led the Hokies by tying for 49th at 7-over 223. VT struggled to manufacture birdies, only racking up 26 during the tournament.
The Hokies will break until their spring slate gets going in February. Tech will compete in the UCF Challenge, Feb. 5-7, at Eagle Creek Golf Club in Orlando, Florida.
