Wildcats Head to Hawai'i For Nanea Pac-12 Preview

KONA, Hawai’i – No. 13 Arizona Women’s Golf will look to cap its successful Fall when it takes on conference foes in the Nanea Pac-12 Preview, beginning on Halloween. All 11 of the Pac-12’s women’s golf programs, in addition to Hawai’i, will compete for three days at the world-renowned Nanea Golf Club on the main island of Hawai’i. The Wildcats have posted a third place and runner-up finish in two of their three tournaments this season.

“The Pac-12 Preview is a first-class golf atmosphere in addition to being an event that we have great historical success at,” said head coach Laura Ianello. “It’s a great stage to end our outstanding Fall and an opportunity to play alongside the entire Pac-12 Conference. We have played high-level golf to start this year, and I look forward to our young ladies ending the semester on a high note.”

The 12-team field at the Nanea Pac-12 Preview includes five programs ranked in GolfStats’s most recent top-25 national rankings. The annual event is a staple of success for Arizona Women’s Golf with back-to-back wins in 2019 and 2018  in addition to a trio of top-three finishes in 2021, 2016 and 2015.

The 2021-22 season has gotten off to a strong start for the Cats that began with a runner-up finish at the season-opening tournament, the Mason Rudolph Championship. Arizona finished four strokes behind winner Mississippi State as senior Gile Bite Starkute posted the first of her two top-10 finishes this Fall. The Wildcats finished third in their last tournament, the Marilynn Smith Sunflower Invitational, as Carolina Melgrati and Lilas Pinthier joined Starkute in the top 15 of the leaderboards.
