East Lansing, Mich. – Michigan State’s women’s golf team fired a team-best 2-under par 276 in the final round and finished in a tie for sixth place among 18 teams at The Landfall Tradition, held at the Country Club of Landfall’s Pete Dye Course in Wilmington, N.C.
The Spartans moved up five places in the final round to finish tied for sixth place with NC State at 7-over par 871 (289-296-286).
San Jose won the tournament, firing a 22-under par 842, finishing six shots ahead of Wake Forest (16-under par 848) Florida State finished in third place at 15-under par 849, while South Carolina was fourth (12-under par 852) and UCF rounded out the top-five teams at 3-over par 867.
Fifth year Valery Plata was the top finisher for Michigan State, shooting a 1-under par 71 and finishing in eighth place overall at 5-under par 211 (70-70-71).
Junior Valentina Rossi tied for 13th place overall at 2-under par 214 (70-73-71), closing with a 1-under par 71.
Junior Leila Raines shot a 4-over par 76 on Sunday and tied for 55th place at 8-over par 224.
Sophomore Brooke Biermann had her best round of the weekend, and the best score of the day for MSU, with a 2-under par 70 in the final round. She tied for 62nd place at 9-over par 225 (78-77-70).
Sophomore Katie Lu shot a 2-over par 74 on Sunday, her best round of the tournament, and tied for 77th place at 13-over par 229 (79-76-74).
