Cantafio Finishes First Round of Saint Mary's Invite Under-Par


PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. – Junior Jaden Cantafio led the Washington State men’s golf team in the first round of the 2022 Saint Mary’s Invitational, as he carded 1-under; 70 to end the round in a tie for 12th place.

As a team, Washington State ended the first round at Poppy Hills carding 9-over; 293 to sit in a tie for ninth place with Nevada. 

Senior Pono Yanagi  also sits inside the top-40 at the end of the first round, as he posted 1-over; 72. Yanagi holds a tie for 37th place on the player leaderboard heading into the second round. 

Freshman Daniel Kim collected an eagle on the 10th hole and was one of eight golfers to collect an eagle during Monday’s first round.

San Diego is in first place on the team leaderboard at the end of the first round after carding 9-under; 275. Loyola Marymount’s Riley Lewis holds the top spot on the player leaderboard after he posted 6-under; 65 in round one. 

The second round of the Saint Mary’s Invitational will tee off Tuesday at 7:20 a.m. Fans can follow all the action at GolfStat.com
