USC Men's Golf Takes Eighth At Cal Poly Invitational

Gavin Aurilia was USC’s top finisher for the first time as a sophomore as the USC men’s golf team wrapped the fall season with an eighth-place at the Cal Poly Invitational at The Preserve on Tuesday (Nov. 1).

The Trojans were a combined 6-over 870 (296-277-297), the second round a season-best. Ohio State won the event at 19-under.

Aurilia started and finished the day tied for 23rd, ultimately signing for a 1-over 217 (72-70-75), his best finish since the season opener.

Senior Jack Boulger (76-68-74), junior Krando Nishiba (75-69-74) and sophomore Jackson Rivera (73-71-74) all tied for 27th at 2-over 218.

Freshman Mahanth Chirravuri tied for 43rd at 5-over 221 (76-70-75), the first time he has not been among USC’s top two in an event this fall.

The Trojans return to NCAA play at the Southwestern Invitational at North Ranch C.C. in Westlake Village, Calif., Jan. 30-Feb. 1.
