For the second straight season, Stanford closes out its fall with four wins in four events. The Cardinal won the Carmel Cup, the Stephens Cup, the Stanford Intercollegiate and now the Pac-12 Preview.
For Zhang, her seventh career win (in 14 events) moves her into fourth place on the career victory list at Stanford, just two shy of Andrea Lee’s (9) school record. Zhang won three times this fall: Carmel Cup, Stanford Intercollegiate, Pac-12 Preview.
Behind Zhang, freshman Megha Ganne finished tied for seventh at 4-under. It was Ganne’s second Top 10 finish this fall after a runner-up finish in her first collegiate event at the Carmel Cup. Senior Brooke Seay finished 10th at 3-under, her best finish of the fall and 10th career Top 10. The Cardinal was the only school with three golfers under par, and in the Top 10. Junior Sadie Englemann finished tied for 11th at even-par, finishing the fall inside the Top 13 in all four events.
As a team, the Cardinal was first in the field in Par 3 scoring (-1), tied for second in Par 4 scoring (+17) and third in Par 5 scoring (-19). Stanford’s 169 pars led the field, while its 54 birdies was second best.
Zhang’s formula to win came in the form of 35 pars and 15 birdies against just four bogeys. She led the field in Par 5 scoring (-8), was tied for second in Par 3 scoring (-2) and tied for fifth in Par 4 scoring (-1).
Stanford’s next event begins Feb. 13 at the Northrup Grumman Regional Challenge.
