Wallin Named B1G Golfer of the Week After Win in Cali – Ohio State Buckeyes

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State junior Adam Wallin capped his fall season in a big way, by winning the Cal Poly Collegiate this week at The Preserve Golf Club in Carmel, Calif. As a result, he was named the Big Ten’s Men’s Golfer of the Week.

The Sweden native claimed his second career victory following rounds of 68-69-68 (-10). That performance also led the Buckeyes to the team title, their second in the last two years. Wallin’s 3-under 69 in the final round was tied for the lowest round of the day and was more than six shots lower than the field’s scoring average as the temperatures dropped and the wind picked up. This was the second time in his career in which he finished an event 10 or more under par. The other came in his first collegiate victory last season.

This was Wallin’s second Golfer of the Week award as he also earned the distinction last year following his victory at the Southern Invitational in March.

Wallin finished the fall second on the team with a 72.08 scoring average and posted three Top-20 finishes in four events. This was coming off a solid summer that saw him represent his home country in the World Amateur Team Championships outside of London in early September.
