Underneath the towering pines of North Carolina, there lies a New England-style village that many regard as America’s Home of Golf. Pinehurst. In the early 1900s, James Walker Tufts, a wealthy businessman and the visionary behind the Pinehurst Resort, commissioned a young Scottish professional by the name of Donald Ross. The Village of Pinehurst is not your typical village – it boasts nine golf courses, plus an 18-hole putting green and nine-hole short course. The United States Golf Association is building a second headquarters in Pinehurst, and the World Golf Hall of Fame is also upping sticks to base itself here.
